Demo App

The Demo App:

Through out the training I will be sharing the Demo app that I have developed.

1. I will show you the 3 main functions of the app,
  • Scan -- to range beacons
  • Setting -- to store the user, server and uuid to be scaned, this will be stored into the app properties
  • Report -- to show the report on a webview

2. After click into the scan, you will be prompted to turn on the bluetooth.

3. The app can range the beacons

4. As the app will post the scanned beacon into server hence you can see the result on the report form.

Free training for Android iBeacon Class

Free training for Android iBeacon Class

This is really a free short course, and you may curious why am I doing so? Simple answer, I just want to reach out more people around the world to get more ideas and opportunities to work together.

Besides that, I love doing this, and I wanted to experiment what the book said "Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow: Discovering Your Right Livelihood" by Marsha Sinetar.

The course covers:
- Using Altbeacon API to build an Android app (why choosing Altbeacon? mainly this is opensource and can range all kind of beacon, unlike estimote API, their API can only range their own beacons)
- Building an Android app to range beacon
- Deploying your app into your phone
- Fine tuning the ranging using different methods/properties
- Discussion about future, ideas and opportunities
- Q&A

Requirement:
- Must have Java background
- Development machine with Android Studio installed
- A BLE 4.0 Android phone with Android 4.3 version or above
- Beacon (so far I have tested on these brands, estimote, ghostyu, wellcore)

Method:
- via Webex, Skype or Join.me
